Welcome to Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society
Dedicated to Quality Musical Theatre
Founded in 1958, BATS is a not-for-profit, amateur theatrical society that specialises in staging musical theatre productions in Basingstoke (United Kingdom). We are a self-funded, not-for-profit theatre group run by volunteers who share a passion for musicals – whether performing on-stage or working behind the scenes. We usually produce two shows a year, in May and November. Over the years, BATS has established a reputation for staging musical theatre productions that are of an exceptional standard, using talent from in and around Basingstoke. You must be at least 18 years old to join us.

Want to Perform?
If you want to perform with BATS you must be at least 18 years old. We’ve put together a set of FAQs, which tell you everything you need to know.
If we have already cast our current show, you'll need to wait until pre-audition rehearsals start for our next production. However, volunteering to help on our current production is a great way to get to know us and see what's involved.

We are a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association. NODA's vision is that amateur theatre is successful and sustainable, providing a range of opportunities for people to develop their skills and enjoy taking part, at all levels.
