Singin' in the Rain
9 - 19 May 2018

Director: Ray Jeffery
Choreographers: Julie Morris and Karen McCloy
Musical director: Trevor Defferd

The Haymarket, Basingstoke
Evenings: 7:30 pm, Saturday matinees: 2:30 pm

They’re moments of movie magic. Gene Kelly joyously dancing down the street in the pouring rain. Donald O’Connor’s amazing physical dexterity in Make ‘Em Laugh. Gene, Donald and Debbie Reynolds skipping over the sofa in Good Mornin', Good Mornin'!

Now see them recreated on stage as BATS brings one of the best-loved musical comedies of all time to the Haymarket. Singin’ in the Rain is the hilarious tale of 1920s Hollywood struggling to cope with the introduction of “talking pictures”.

Stars are born, egos are bruised, every song and dance number is a lavish spectacle!

And yes, you might get wet... at least Don will!

Press Reviews

"An effervescent zinger of a show!  There is so much to appreciate: the skill displayed by the principals; the glorious dance numbers, including some irresistible tap sequences; the incredible 'wet set' complete with rain; the clever use of filmed inserts; the many laughs; and the myriad costume changes."

The Basingstoke Gazette - Read full review

"Polished performances from the hugely talented cast and first-class choreography.  BATS should be proud to add this production to their list of successes.  It was two and a half hours of all singing and dancing entertainment with the aid of a massively skilled cast and crew."

NODA - Read full review

"It was told with great wit and humour and provided a great framework for BATS to showcase their considerable talents in a production packed with a host of sparkling musical numbers and gorgeous costumes."

Audience feedback

Loved Singin’ in the Rain. Excellent performances from a wonderful, talented cast. Fabulous teamwork.
— Lynn Hunt
I saw you on your last night and I only wish I’d come on one of the earlier performances to I could have seen the show again - it was fantastic. I was so impressed by everything - the music/band (sounded so polished I thought to start with it might be a recording), singing, dancing and sets/lighting.
— Nick Hudson
Brilliantly staged. West End Performances. Deserving of the standing ovation it received.
